Beauty Royals' Miss Universe 2011 FEARLESS review!

Miss Universe 2011 was finally over. The pageant already chose the right girl to represent the Miss Universe Organization to fulfill its mission. And BeautyMania.biz is happy for Leila Lopes. She really deserve the crown.

Moreover, here is BeautyMania.biz's ultimate FEARLESS review about Miss Universe 2011 finals.

Production

Fans were expecting that Miss Universe 2011 will be as grandeur as Miss Universe past editions. Although Miss Universe Organization has announced that there will be changes in this year's edition, fans were still upset with the production because they are expecting more, not just a low-budgeted, cheap looking production.

Credicard Hall seems to be crowded. Brazilian organizers should choose bigger venue instead. The stage is OK but it appears too small. Its design is highly appreciated because of its modern looking and the lights are very satisfactory. The only problem, as what other pageant sites pointed out, is the Brazilian culture were not deeply introduced to the audience. Fans were expecting more because Brazil is having such rich culture. Sadly, the audience were unable to explore more of Brazil other than carnival and bossa nova.

The hosts Andy Cohen and Natalie Morales did a splendid job, but fans noticed that Morales seemed to be  uncomfortable with her male co-host unlike in 2010 where Natalie showed her bubbly personality. Her co-host at that time was Brett Michaels.

With regards to musical score and live performances, the organizers made it great. Live performance of Claudia Leitte was spectacular, hotness to the highest level. Bebel Giberto made a wonderful performance as well. But we noticed that during swimsuit portion, some qualities are quite similar to Miss Earth 2009 swimsuit portion, especially the background dancers who "freeze" at middle of the stage during the swimsuit catwalk of the Top 16. It was quite distracting view.

Another turnoff is the cameramen focusing on the candidates before the hosts called them as semi-finalists. It kills the excitement.

Color commentators are seemed to be nuisances during the show. Shandi Finnessey and Jeannie Mai gave very odd, sometimes insensitive comments against the candidates. They had also shown their bias on certain candidates, which we think is inappropriate for a commentator who is also part of the show.

The Top 16

The selection of Top 16 seemed to be "political" in nature. Yup, that was what we saw. First to be called was Miss France Laury Thilleman whom we believe gave silly remarks against candidates who had undergone plastic surgeries. Thilleman became a trend topic inside the pageant arena after saying to the international press that she's 100% natural and Miss France organization only permits natural beauty to join their pageant. Her statement became a trending topic and pointing against "plastic" candidates. On the other hand, the French beauty also gave a spectacular performance during preliminaries that is why she was locked in the Top 16.

Prior to the contest, Miss Kosovo Aferdita Dreshaj was a hot favorite by the pageant fans. She was included in every pageant leaderboards and predictions. But soon her fans became disappointed with her look upon arriving in Sao Paulo. Some fans dubbed Dreshaj as Miss Photoshop. She continued to disappoint her fans with her released candid photos and failed fashion statements. Her inclusion in the Top 16 was a doubt since Fadil Berisha, the official photographer of Miss Universe Organization, is an Albanian. Berisha was said to be influential inside the organization.

Miss Colombia Catalina Robayo's inclusion in the Top 16 was entirely for publicity. Although she gave a satisfactory performance in the preliminaries, her inclusion was a surprise for many because Robayo was recently involved in a scandal of not wearing undergarments. Robayo was caught of not wearing an underwear during the Samba class. The Colombian beauty queen became an instant trend in Google, Facebook, and Twitter after a upskirt scandal photo was circulated the net. Even non-pageant fans became aware about Robayo's scandal and this controversy brought Miss Universe to higher ratings.

Miss China Luo Zilin was said to be MUO's favorite to win (In 2010, Miss Philippines Venus Raj was favored to win by the MUO). Besides her inclusion was balanced between politics and excellent performance. But prior to the contest proper, Miss China became controversial after having a close door meeting with two-soon-to-be-preliminary judges. When the panel of judges were announced, including Zilin's "friends", rage from pageant fans erupted against Zilin, even Ines Ligron called the attention of other national directors to protest the preliminary judges line-up. Although one of the preliminary judges who had met with Zilin disqualified by the MUO, still the controversy did not stop. The controversy finally ended when Miss China confirmed her favoritism after showing excellent performance during preliminaries. It was also said that the "Dragon Lady" also played a major role for Zilin's inclusion in the Top 16.

Inclusion of Misses Angola, Australia, Puerto Rico, Netherlands, Ukraine, Panama, Costa Rica, Philippines, and Venezuela were fair and expected. Fans from Philippines and Venezuela proved their hype over their candidates worthy.

Meanwhile, inclusion of Miss Brazil Priscila Machado was again another tactic made by MUO to boost its ratings. Machado was very controversial ever since she won Miss Brasil 2011 pageant. Her topless photos surfaced the net after she won and the Brazilian fans were really upset with their own candidate. This was explained by the louder boos against Machado during the preliminary show. Although past editions candidates who previously posed topless or nude are barred from entering the semi-finals, example was Miss Russia Sofia Rudieva during Miss Universe 2009, who also has topless photos circulated the net just like Miss Brazil Priscila Machado. Another angle of Miss Brazil's inclusion was the "agreement" between Rede Band and MUO, since Brazil was the host country.

Miss USA Alyssa Campanella's inclusion was entirely sash factor.

Miss Portugal Laura Goncalves' inclusion in the Top 16 due to fan voting is doubtful to many. But according to our source, Portugal got the highest votes from Brazilian fans. Venezuela was said to be the winner of this fan voting, but Vanessa Goncalves managed to enter the semi-finals without the help of it.

Exclusion of Misses Malaysia, Greece, Aruba, Trinidad & Tobago, and Nicaragua in the Top 16 surprised many. One pageant entity even quoted that Miss Malaysia's exclusion was because of Ines Ligron who called a protest against the list of preliminary judges released by MUO. Ligron was the trainer of Miss Malaysia prior to the contest.

Another factor of Miss Malaysia's exclusion, according to some pageant sites, are sash factor and politics.

After the swimsuit contest, Misses from Australia, Costa Rica, France, Ukraine, Portugal, Panama, Philippines, Angola, China, and Brazil were expected since these 10 ladies gave a spectacular swimsuit walk. Venezuela and Puerto Rico also gave a wonderful performance but the judges and the audience seemed to favor more "fresh looking" women than "fierce women".

Evening gowns followed. Costa Rica, as seen by many pageant sites, chose a wrong gown. Miss Portugal's maroon gown was dull. Meanwhile, Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup gave the most spectacular evening gown presentation with her elegance and sexiness combined. She entered the Top 5 later together with Misses Ukraine, China, Brazil, and Angola who also gave a spectacular evening gown presentation.

The Top 5 were expected. Miss Brazil's inclusion in the Top 5 was already expected. Aside from her gown, home court served as an advantage to her.

Question and Answer Portion followed. As expected these questions were based on the candidate's personal background or their countries' political background.

Miss Ukraine Olesya Stefanko's question gave by Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega about "Who among the female leaders you would like to be?" seemed to reflect Ukraine's political situation. Former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was arrested for abuse of office over a natural gas imports contract signed with Russia in 2009. On the other hand, Stefanko answered "She would like to be Cleopatra" which reflects her ignorance in history [try to google Cleopatra (VII) and you will see she's not a model leader]. Stefanko seemed to be like another Tymoshenko in the future.

Judge Vivica A. Fox asked Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup if she would change her religion to marry someone she loves. She said to Miss Philippines, “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love? Why or why not?". Again this question is related to Supsup's personal background. Her boyfriend named Lloyd Lee was converted from Catholic to Born Again Christian as requested by Supsup and her family. Her answer, which according to some are very undiplomatic, really lost her chance to win the crown. On the other hand, personalities like Osmel Sousa said Miss Philippines answered the question the best, and it was answered with complete honesty. Even one commentator said, "Her answer blew me away".

When Miss China Luo Zilin asked the question about public nudity in the beaches was again another political  question reflected on China's policies against "too-much" freedom. China was recently banned songs of Lady Gaga with "freedom" theme. The government also banned sci-fi movies that reflects mind-awakening. Of course Zilin answered the question like she was representing the Chinese government. Her answer really killed her chances of winning.

On the other hand, the questions for Misses Brazil and Angola are the easiest, non-political questions although it reflects to their personal background just like the question threw to Miss Brazil by Helio Castroneves. Although the question was generically about war, it somewhat applies to Miss Brazil's quest for the crown. Her fans and critics were "at war" at that time. Machado's critics invaded the net with harsh remarks against the Brazilian beauty queen. These critics even booed Machado during the preliminary show. On the other hand, there are fans who defended Machado from her critics and the two camps declared "war" on each other. That is why Machado's answer is "respect" because few days after the booing incident during the preliminaries, she demanded respect from her critics.

Meanwhile, the question for Miss Angola seemed to be the easiest, since Lea Salonga admitted after the pageant that Leila Lopes was ever since favored by the judges to win. Lopes gave a very satisfactory, non-pageant patty answer, and that answer sealed her the crown.

Many fans and observers approved Miss Angola's victory, although some of them prefer Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup first runner-up instead of Miss Ukraine. Leila Lopes' victory proved that there are no biases and she won fairly. Besides Leila Lopes is purely a natural beauty- a black goddess of beauty indeed! She really deserved to win.

BeautyMania.biz wishes Leila Lopes a wonderful reign as the most beautiful woman in the universe!

Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes: well-deserved victory!
